Gordon Malan, pgmalan@biotech-is.co.uk , took on the responsibility as chairman of Ryedale Woodturners in 2015.
He started turning in 2006, learning to turn at the Snainton Woodworking Supplies weekly evening class, tutored by Terry Taylor, Rob Thompson and Graham Harker.
Gordon has learned much from many other amateur and professional turners, and from several courses organised by the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain (AWGB), summaries of which have been published in the AWGB magazine, Revolutions.
He is a purely hobby turner and specialises in winged bowls, but he likes to try his hand at different types of project as well. Some of his pieces have won prizes at several local Agricultural Shows over the years.
