A modest gathering of members and guests at Snainton Village Hall, slightly fewer than hands up at the last meeting, but still a good turnout for what was a convivial and enjoyable evening.
As has become the norm, there were three categories of competition, beginners, intermediate and expert. As always these attracted an impressive variety of entries in a very wide range of styles, subjects and wood, and all were to high standard.
The winners were:
Beginners – Ian Temple , 2nd and 3rd Richard King
Intermediate 1 Tony Langthorne, 2 Frank Cornforth, Chris Tomlin.
Expert 1 Gordon Malan, 2 Brian Wrigglesworth, 3 John Whiteley.
Other competitions were 40 "familiar faces" provided by Terry, 50 wood blanks and offcuts identification, provided by John Whiteley, and a Christmas quiz provided by Malcolm Dayson.
Thanks are due to Bertie and Keith Harte, Christine Addley and Jonathan Plackett, Anne Dayson, and others for providing a superb spread.
Thanks also to Keith for organising the event, and to all others who lent a hand and were involved in any way.
Bob handed out money from the sales at the club exhibition last month. £553 was raised on the day, so with a 20% club levy, less hall rental, around £100 went in to club funds.
