2015 Club Exhibition and Sale

The club exhibition and sale took place at Thornton le Dale Hill Institute on a very wet and windy weekend, 28th and 29th of November 2015. A very impressive display of work, covering the wide variety we all know that woodturners produce, was on display over two days, 10 am until 4 pm each day.

Despite some atrocious weather, there was a steady stream of visitors - many prompted by Brian, Gordon, John and others out in the street inviting people in - and the end result was almost a thousand pounds worth of woodturning being sold.

Our thanks must go to John Whiteley for all his exertions and expertise in this type of event, which made the event a success. Thanks also to all who exhibited items and did their stint manning the exhibition.

John had a number of little notices for visitors to read on the tables, including descriptions of unusual timber, and this quote from an artist:

Rebekah Joy Plett:

"When buying from an artist/maker, you're buying more than just an object/painting. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks, and months of frustration and moments of PURE JOY. YOU AREN'T JUST BUYING A THING, you're buying a piece of heart, part of a soul, a moment of someone's life. Most importantly, you're buying the artist more time to do something they are passionate about."
