2019 Club Exhibition and Sale
Thornton le Dale Hill Institute
Saturday and Sunday 14 and 15 December 2019
The seventh club exhibition and sale took place in Thornton le Dale on a cold but occasionally sunny Saturday.
In all there was £1540 in sales, resulting in a £436 net profit from commission for the club after payment of rent for the hall. This makes it our most successful sale to date. There were 125 items sold, produced by 12 exhibitors, and many members turned up to help at some stage. Many sales were less than £10, but there were two big sales of lamps - £200 for one by Lance, and £150 for one by Peter. There were also some mid-range bowls and clocks sold (£20 - £40). There were 16 bowls sold altogether, so it is not true that "nobody buys bowls". Of course, snowmen were popular, 14 of different shapes and sizes being sold, along with 9 Christmas trees.
Payment to club members for their contributions will be made at the next club meeting in January.
Our thanks as always must go once again to John Whiteley for all his exertions and expertise in this type of event, for his marathon stint manning the cash desk and persuading people in off the street. Thanks also to all who exhibited items and did their bit manning the exhibition and inviting people in off the street in Thornton.
