Ryedale Woodturners

Our club meets on the first Thursday evening of every month, at Snainton Village Hall, Snainton, near Scarborough.

We invite a range of top demonstrators, as well as running an annual hands-on night, a Christmas party, exhibitions and sales, second hand tool sales, and our annual general meeting. More about Ryedale Woodturners.

  • 15 December 2019. We have just finished our best ever woodturning exhibition and sale in Thornton le Dale this weekend, with £1540 being taken over the two days. Thanks to all involved. That makes a total of £4240 in sales this year, over 4 events. Members have made £2590 from these, and the club has made £1200 in commission - much needed to boost membership and monthly admission takings.

  • 13 December 2019 The next demonstration at the club is Steve Fearnley, who will be showing how he turns summerhouse finials and other outdoor items. You can have a look at what he does on his website at oldfern.co.uk
  • 12 December 2019 Membership fees reduction for the remainder of the year. Given that we are one third of the way through the year, anyone joining the club in January 2020 will only have to pay £24 to join for the remainder of the year. Fees will reduce pro rata each month thereafter.
  • 7 December 2019 A brief summary and photos from the Christmas party meeting are now on the site. Possibly more to follow.
  • 11 November 2019 A write up and photos from the Tiny Turner's demonstration are now on the site.
    Thanks to John Lund who donated some offcuts of iroko, which were snapped up at £2 each. A bargain to club members and £16 to club funds. Another advantage of belonging to the club.
    A reminder to get pieces ready for a sale at Thornton le Dale 14 and 15 December. Sale ID numbers available from Lance Garrard if you have not already got one. A reminder also entries welcome at the December meeting for the club competition - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced. You can choose which category you are, but if you have previously won one, you must move up a category.
